In his "Moralische Meditation" premiered at the Cologne Musikhochschule in 1982, Dieter Schnebel gives the performers a good measure of creative freedom. The strong improvisatory character is inspired by impromptu inventions and spontaneity during the performance. The instrumentation, too, is determined by the performers themselves, although they should do without classical orchestral instruments. Due to the improvisatory interpretation and varying instrumentation, each performance of this work develops its own character.
