He studied in Paris in the 1920s and absorbed the vibrant cosmopolitan culture into his music. Klami's style is a fascinating blending of folk-music inspired motifs, solid craftmanship and colourful instrumentation. Sea Pictures (1931-32) is one of Klami's main works. The entire suite is now available for the first time as a wind band transcription. Pasi-Heikki Mikkola's arrangement is scored for large wind band, including mallets, piano and double bass.
