The Gloria and the Credo are both very contrasting in theirvarious parts. The Sanctus and the Benedictus share the same music for theHossana, in the manner of the classical Renaissance masses. The Agnus Dei closesthe mass with a very contemplative air.This work is dedicated to the memory of Modesta Bor (1926 - 1998), who was notonly my composition teacher and one of my best friends, but also one of the mostimportant composers from the XXth century Venezuelan music. In 2000, it wasawarded the Mayor’s Prize for Composition, and it was premiered by Cantarte,under my conduction, in December 6th, 2000.
