About this arrangement

Instrumental Duet,Piano Flute,Instrumental Duet,Oboe,Piano,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.565172 By Sharon Wilson. By George N. Allen and Thomas Shepherd. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. 20th Century,Easter,Folk,Lent,Sacred. 15 pages. Sharon Wilson #3513633. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565172). This reflective, flowing hymn attributed to George N. Allen is arranged as an instrumental trio (for two C-instruments with piano accompaniment). The beautiful, lyrical style of this instrumental piece creates a warm, pleasant ambiance and is an ideal selection for a church setting. All parts get to lead with the melody at times (even the piano) making it fun for all players and adding variety for the listeners. The FLUTE plays the melody for the first verse, PIANO on the second verse, then concludes with the VIOLIN on the melody for the third verse. This arrangement begins in the key of D major, then transitions to the key of G major, and concludes with the last verse returning to the key of D major.Though notated with FLUTE on part 1 and VIOLIN on part 2, the ranges are also accessible for other combinations of C instruments (2 violins, 2 flutes, etc.). Ranges are as follows: FLUTE (part 1) ~ first F# above middle C to the second B above (F#4 to B5); VIOLIN (part 2) ~ first D above middle C to the second A above (D4 to A5).   All notes for the violin on either part are playable in the first position making this piece an excellent choice for early-intermediate string players. The purchase price includes a 6-page combined score with all parts on each page plus separate scores for the FLUTE and VIOLIN (2 pages each) and a PIANO only score (4 pages). Duration 3:00. The original lyrics for this hymn tune MAITLAND were written by Thomas Shepherd and unknown others and are printed below. Using this same hymn tune, Thomas A. Dorsey penned new lyrics in 1932 and his song titled "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" became one of the most beloved and familiar hymns of the 20th century.   This arrangement is one of the 10 songs in the collection "Praise Him with Stringed Instruments, Book 2 (Collection of 10 Hymns for Violin Duet with Piano)."Visit Sharon Wilson's website: https://www.sharonwilsonmusic.com/Subscribe to her YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/@SharonWilsonMusic Lyrics:Verse 1Must Jesus bear the cross alone,And all the world go free? No, there's a cross for every one,And there's a cross for me.Verse 2The consecrated cross I'll bear,Till He shall set me free; And then go home my crown to wear,For there's a crown for me.Verse 3Upon the crystal pavement,Down at Jesus' pierced feet,With joy I'll cast my golden crown,And His dear name repeat.
