Nimrod is the most familiar of the Enigma Variations (Variations on an Original Theme, Op.36), composed by English composer Edward Elgar in 1888-89. The solemn beauty of this familiar variation is a favorite of audiences, and provides players with great expressive possibilities without any great technical challenge. In this skillful work by Keith Terrett, Nimrod is arranged for clarinet quintet. Two versions are available, making the arrangement accessible to ensembles with different instruments available. Version 1: 2 clarinets, 2 alto clarinets, and bass clarinet. Version 2: 3 clarinets, alto clarinet, and bass clarinet.
