Otto Nicolai's last opera 'Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor' is the only one left and also his only one in German language. It is still one of the most performed opera's in Germany opera houses. The libretto was, like Verdi's famous 'Falstaff', based on Shakespeare's comedy 'The merry Wives of Windsor '. The chorus 'O süsser Mond, o holde Nacht' (Mondchor) is sung in the 3rd act of the Opera.
