Written in 1979, and first performed in 1983, it includes what he calls environmental percussion, which were the sounds of crickets, birds, ocean waves, pebbles being dropped into water, etc. I remember being intrigued by these background sounds and thought it added quite a bit to the overall mood of the song.This arrangement for clarinet choir is written for Eb (divisi), 3 Bb (divisi), alto (divisi), bass, and contrabass. There are 2 percussion parts: finger snaps and shaker. These parts are very simple, but important to re-create the same ambience as the original music does.If your choir does not have a contrabass you can substitute it with another bass.
