This through-composed partita-like fantasy uses colorful jazz style harmonies to paint evocative images of this beautiful Advent hymn. In its entirety it serves well as either a concert piece or a service prelude. The composer gives specific suggestions for extracting a quiet prelude, voluntary, hymn introduction, or postlude for more practical service.
