My first brass quintet, Four Sketches (BIM ENS48 - 1990), explored a wide range of basically bright colors, while with Mosaics (BIM ENS 75 - 1997), my second quintet, flugelhorns replaced trumpets so that there were fewer color changes and the colors used were darker and more somber. With Polychromes I have combined elements of the first two quintets - the bright colors of the Four Sketches and the darker and more monochromatic colors of the Mosaics. The six movements of this Polychromes suite are divided into two distinct parts (1-3 and 4-6) with a wide range of poetic musical entertainment. Anthony Plog, Freiburg i. Br. Germany, January 2018.
