About this arrangement

Concert band concert band - Grade 4 SKU: BF.BM495-SET Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Douglas McLain. Baton Music orchestral series. Full Score and set of parts. Duration 8:30. Baton Music #BM495-SET. Published by Baton Music (BF.BM495-SET). Dvorak wrote his Prague Waltzes in December of 1879, at the request of a prestigious Prague musical society, and premiered the following January. They were written just after the first set of Slavonic Dances. The Prague Waltzes are fragrant with the accents of the Czech national musical dialect, but follow the form typical of the classic Viennese waltz in a continuous chain of distinct dance melodies framed by an introduction and coda, in which the first theme returns in a refrain-like manner. The occasion helped boost his fame and their success was probably a factor in his decision to write the second set of Slavonic Dances.
