It is loosely in the style of the Kinderscenen of Schuman (i.e.Der Dichter spricht). The style is a four-part proposition with modern harmonies, making it an ideal vehicle for pianists to become acquainted with extended harmonies while at the same time feeling familiar with this four part hymn style.
