In a dictatorship that holds complete control over people, 'big brother' surveillance cameras watch over everyone. The main character, Winston Smith, is determined to escape this totalitarian society and find freedom. Stylistically, the piece uses a stark, angular, post-tonal idiom in order to reflect the aforementioned subject matter. However, the work remains accessible for the listener and is appropriate for higher-level pianists, including advanced students and professional players. Duration: 4 minutes 50 seconds.
