About this arrangement

B-Flat instrument,C Instrument,E-Flat Instrument,Instrumental Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1122107 Composed by Igor Korneitchouk. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 42 pages. Studio at the Post #723168. Published by Studio at the Post (A0.1122107). Duration: 6 minutes, 9 pp. Description: This work may be played by any solo brass or woodwind instrument. ʻRed shiftʼ is a key concept for astronomers. The term can be understood literally - the wavelength of the light is stretched, so the light is seen as 'shifted' towards the red part of the spectrum. Something similar happens to sound waves when a source of sound moves relative to an observer.” (https://www.esa.int/Science_Exploration/Space_Science/What_is_red_shift ). Thirteen Ways of Looking at... alludes to the poem "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird" by Wallace Stevens who described his poem as a series of thirteen different sensations: “These ʻsensationsʼ are almost like short, individual poems, each of which references a blackbird in some way. As the poem's title suggests, these fragments feature different perspectives, with the bird taking on many disparate meanings as the poem unfolds. The poem is more about evoking certain feelings in the reader than in making any particular argument about birds. Overall, though, the poem does seem to suggest that reality is always a matter of perspective—that each person looks at and understands the world in their own way” (https://www.litcharts.com/poetry/wallace-stevens/thirteen-ways-of-looking-at-a-blackbird). The two pieces in this score can be played together as a suite or individually. They were originally written for Trumpet in C (pp. 12-21), but can be slightly or greatly modified to be performed on any brass or wind instrument (see notes on pp. 2 & 4). Alternate transpositions in different registers are included.
