Throughout the chorus, the right-hand melody is mostly accompanied by a syncopated jazz waltz rhythm in the left. Concluding the arrangement, an extended piano technique is used by damping a string with the left hand that is being played on the keys by the right. Sounding not unlike a palm-muted guitar, this single repeated note gradually decreases in speed, in sheet music commonly notated as a feathered-beam figure.
