I have played a similar piano version of the Arioso for many weddings, and recently discovered how wonderfully it blends with this prayerful hymn. The Arioso begins in its original key of G Major and then flows naturally into the key of D Major as the hymn begins. The Arioso returns, but now in D and gives way again to the hymn tune which grows in texture and intensity until a simple ending takes us briefly back to Bach's sweet melody. In this arrangement you will find a few measures of left hand over right hand as well as some left hand flowing accompaniment that includes a few fingering suggestions. Double bar lines mark the sections. This setting is appropriate for offertory, prelude to worship, weddings, dedications, graduations or any situation that calls for meaningful meditative music.
