Scarlet Cloud is a solo piano piece contemporary composer Antonios wrote using  the undertone series(also known as subharmonic series).In this piece Antonios explores the set of the undertone series as a scale but also placed in the theoretical position they occur, starting from a high frequency.This creates a distribution of notes that is thin, with few and far between notes in the high frequenciesbut gets gradually thicker, with a lot of notes being produced closer and closer to each other in the lower frequencies.This is counter intuitive for a regular tonal sound which for the most part is theoretically based on the overtone series,which have an opposite distribution. The overtones resonate and amplify a common root note in the bass, the tonic. Whereas the undertones, all share a common overtone that is amplified by their interference.This piece is characterized by duality, because tonal structures and chords arisethat the composer uses to break down the set into subsets, however, given theircalculated position all these notes produce harmonics that resonate with the root of the undertone series and amplify it. This high resonating frequency acts as a unifying factor that blends consonant and disconsonant sounds together in the ear of the listenergiving this chilling and distinct avant garde "undertone" to this piece.
