About this arrangement

Violin, cello SKU: DB.DM-01493 Fur Violine und Basso continuo. Composed by Andrea Zani. Edited by Brian W.Pritchard & Jill Ward. String music. Doblinger Music Publishers #DM-01493. Published by Doblinger Music Publishers (DB.DM-01493). Zani published only six sets of compositions (opp. 1-6), all between 1727 (Casalmaggiore) and ca. 1743 (Paris). All were of instrumentental music and with a solo violin prominent in most. This is not surprising as Zani was trained as a violinist and had a reputation as a virtuoso. The sonatas op. 6 brigde the change from late baroque style to pre-classic style. For this reason alone they are an important contribution to the solo violin repertiore. All sonatas are in four movements and each has a slow-fast-slow-fast - sequence of movements. (Pritchard, Ward).
