Digital Download SKU: A0.1070218 Composed by Joseph Dillon Ford. 20th Century,Contemporary. Full Performance. Duration 227. David Warin Solomons2 #3864807. Published by David Warin Solomons2 (A0.1070218). Score:https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/20824348?aff_id=175705La Serenissima is, of course Venice, and the atmosphere is evoked here in gentle classical style.Serenissima is an instrumental version of Part III of Mythus - a large-scale work in progress scored for SATB chorus and orchestra. It is based on the poem of the same name written in the late 1980s by the composer and published in his volume of Selected Poems (1990). The overarching theme of the poem is creation and destruction, and specifically the mythic birth and impending demise of the Earth as a consequence of human corruption. Part III is actually a barcarolle which in the present iteration, featuring wind soloists instead of chorus, is intended to evoke a gondola winding its way through the fabled canals of the "Most Serene Republic of Venice." It is performed here by The Octava Chamber Orchestra.
