About this arrangement

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1162108 By West Coast Wind Quintet. By Ron Levy. 20th Century,Classical. 13 pages. Thinkling Music #762481. Published by Thinkling Music (A0.1162108). A charmer! Shrimp Salad takes Beethoven’s quaint little piano piece and casts it as a light ragtime. Each phrase is followed by a response, with notes altered to give it a “bluesy” quality.    The middle section goes into a bona fide jazz feel, with walking bass and bebop phrasing of the melody. The section closes with an “anti-Picardy third”, minor plagal cadence – that is, we expect major and get minor.    The return of the opening section has a slightly varied accompaniment in medieval “hocket” style, followed by a moderately suspenseful Coda to close out the proceedings.
