This work incorporates saxophone multiphonics and viola double stops in a way that creates musical illusions making it difficult to know which instrument is playing at any given moment. One challenge for the viola player is to reproduce the microtones obtained by the saxophone multiphonics. All the multiphonics are labeled and can be found in Daniel Kientzy's Doctoral thesis. These Silent Duration pieces are notable for their incorporation of silence as an integral part of the compositional fabric. The duration is 10'00.
