About this arrangement

SATB choir, voice solo SKU: SB.SBMP-1359 Composed by Michael J. Barrett. Arranged by Michael Barrett. Choral. Classical. Octavo. 12 pages. Santa Barbara Music Publishing #SBMP1359. Published by Santa Barbara Music Publishing (SB.SBMP-1359). UPC: 608938361394.This is a piece about "lobola" - the method in which traditional cultures pay for their brides (usually with cattle and herd: the prettier the wife, the more cows the family will demand). In this interpretation, two guys are interested in the same girl - so they try to "out bid" each other by singing (hence the music rising up by a tone each time). At the end, a third singer joins - he is not from the same culture, but also likes the bride in question.
