Bass clarinet SKU: A7.ALEA1229 Composed by Bach, C.P.E. Arranged by Dennis Smylie and Sunshine Simmons. Classical. Score and parts. Alea Publishing #ALEA1229. Published by Alea Publishing (A7.ALEA1229). The Solfeggietto by C.P.E. Bach was originally written for solo piano as an exercise for smooth transitions between the left and right hands. Dennis Smylie, bass clarinetist extraordinaire, arranged this piece for his bass clarinet students in order to practice reading music in bass clef. Dennis was a fascinating person and wonderful musician who was adept at performing on clarinets of all sizes with the bass clarinet being his favorite. He was a dedicated teacher and influenced many bass clarinet students during his long career. I studied with him for five summers at the Aspen Music Festival and it was there I discovered my love for the bass clarinet. This edition of Solfeggietto includes Dennis' arrangement in bass clef as well as an additional version in treble clef. This publication is dedicated to Dennis Smylie in great appreciation for passing on the love of his instrument to so many. -- Sunshine Simmons, 2019.
