Text JP-Klingenschmid After having composed Quasimodal-Suite (for 2 sax-altos - BIM SAX13) in June 1995 for the Austrian saxophonist Otto Klingenschmid, Richard Lane composed for him this ten minutes long Sonata for alto saxophone and piano in 1999. It was premiered in July 2000 in Kreuzlingen (Switzerland) by Klingenschmid and the swiss pianist Timon Altwegg. In a letter sent to Klingenschmid dated 28 February 1999 Lane wrote: [...] In the second movement, I intend all the 16th notes played by the saxophone should be very delibarate and unhurried, almost as if there were words being sung.
