Vierne composed two organ masses – Messe basse op. 30 (Summer 1912) and Messe basse pour les défunts op. 62 (Winter 1934/35), both for organ and/or harmonium. These are glorious works filled with melodies, harmony and rhythmic interest historically found in French organ music.
