This well known Serenade is  No 4 from the song cycle 'Schwanengesang' It was  composed in 1828 and the collection was published in 1829, a few months after the composer's death. The piano accompaniment is re-arranged for guitar (lowest string tuned to D) and the flute part is derived from the vocal line.
