The texts of Star Song are drawn from a variety of cultures and through a span of centuries ranging from the 8th century BCE to the present day and are sung in English, Latin, Hebrew and French (optional English). The piece begins with an orchestral overture. Then, the following eleven movements examine the idea that we are all made of atoms that are unfathomably old, having been formed at the moment of creation. Star Song was written in 2013 and the chamber orchestra version premiered in December of that year. The version for full orchestra was premiered in New York's Lincoln Center in May of 2014.
