The duo often harmonise in thirds, in the manner of two-part 'horn calls', mostly outlining simple triadic harmony. The folk-like melodies are highly memorable, and susceptible to variation mainly by register and decoration. Indeed, the piece can even be used as a virtuosic encore. The work's title refers to the main theme, as well as the overall piece, which perhaps resembles a morris dance, with imagined foot stomps.
