Chamber Music Violin, Viola, cello SKU: PR.144401110 Composed by Ellen Taaffe Zwilich. Classical. Set of Score and Parts. With Standard notation. 20+8+8+8 pages. Duration 13 minutes. Theodore Presser Company #144-40111. Published by Theodore Presser Company (PR.144401110). ISBN 9781491134054. UPC: 680160025701.As in my other works for string instruments, I have taken great pleasure in exploring the wide range of expression possible on the violin, viola, and cello. for me, writing for strings is a very immediate and intense form of communication. In the String Trio I also sought to celebrate modern string virtuosity within the context of a constantly varying dialogue of three strong and equal partners in chamber music. In my recent works, I have been developing techniques that combine modern principles of continuous variation with older (but still immensely satisfying) principles, such as melodic and pitch recurrence and clearly defined areas of contrast. Thus, while the String Trio is in three movements of differing character (Vivace, Adagio, Presto [Lento]), the whole piece is generated by the same musical material and the cyclical quality of the work will perhaps be recognizable on first hearing, even before the epilogue which emphasizes it. String Trio is about sixteen minutes in duration and was written in my home in New York City.As in my other works for string instruments, I have taken great pleasure in exploring the wide range of expression possible on the violin, viola, and cello. for me, writing for strings is a very immediate and intense form of communication.
