Gerswin's 'Summertime' was written for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess and has become one the the best loved jazz standards of all time. This version, scored for the standard S/A/T/B saxophone quartet line up, has been re-harmonised and given a more contemporary feel. There is flexible solo space, for either alto or tenor, over an open two chord sequence and a soprano solo over the changes for the melody.
