SATB choir, organ SKU: C5.5170 Composed by Colin Brumby. Text: Psalm 119:33-40. Easy, festive anthem; makes the choir sound "bigger than they are". General. Octavo. Published by CanticaNOVA Publications (C5.5170). Teach Me, O Lord is a robust anthem in English cathedral style. The text from Psalm 119 begins with verse 33: "Teach me, O Lord, the way of your statutes, and I will honor it to the end" and proceeds through verse 40: "Lord, I long for your precepts, in your righteousness give me life." Colin Brumby sets these in homophonic style, always bright and vocally appealing, with good use of repetition to make the anthem easy to learn. The organ accompaniment aids the singers without slavishly doubling their parts. This anthem is useful in festival liturgies (a recurring motif imitates "horn fifths"). Schedule this one when you need the choir to sound "bigger than their means.".
