When my younger brother died while I was in the midst of heart failure and waiting for a heart transplant, a family member went to inform our grandmother. They found her on her knees thanking God for the gift and blessing of knowing her grandson. In that spirit, my composition Thanksgiving is a reflection of ironies in life and those we are grateful for knowing, though they are gone.”.
