English-German-French-Dutch.This work is based on the famous stories of Baron Münchhausen. In these tall tales, the baron undertook all sorts of fabulous adventures. He flew, for example, on a cannonball, or rode on a horse torn in two; he turned a hungry wolf inside out, and pulled himself out of a swamp by his own hair.The historical figure of Münchhausen did exist, and some of the tales were actually recounted by him, while others have since been attributed to him. Four of the tales served as the inspiration for this composition. The music isn’t simply a word-for-word transcription of the stories, however, but rather conveys a particular mood or specific scene, often with a humorous twist.Here are thefour parts of the composition:The Horse: During a snowstorm the baron ties his horse to a post and falls into a deep sleep. As he awakes, the snow is melted away and the horse is dangling from the top of a church spire.Cannonball: The baron jumps onto a cannonball in flight, to spy on a city under siege. In mid-air he decides to return whence he came by stepping onto a cannonball flying in the other direction. He then gets shot into the city a second time and opens the gates from within.Flight to the Moon: Baron Münchhausen flies to the moon in a floating spacecraft, where he meets all sorts of strange creatures.Journey through the Earth: The baron jumps down into the bowels of Mount Etna and sets off on an adventurous journey right through the centre of the Earth. Dit werk is gebaseerd op de avonturen van Baron Munchausen. In deze verhalen beleeft de knotsgekke baron allerlei fantastische avonturen. Zo kon de baron op kanonskogels vliegen, verder rijden op een in tweeën gehakt paard, hongerige wolvenbinnenstebuiten keren of zichzelf aan zijn eigen vlecht uit een moeras trekken. Voor het schrijven van deze compositie fungeerden vier hoofdstukken uit het oorspronkelijke boek als inspiratiebron. De muziek is echter geen letterlijke uitbeelding van deze hoofdstukken, ze roept eerder een bepaalde sfeer of beeld op, vaak met eenvleugje humor.Dieses Werk basiert auf den berühmten Lügengeschichten des Barons Münchhausen. In diesen Erzählungen erlebt der Baron allerlei fantastische Abenteuer. So konnte er auf einer Kanonenkugel fliegen, auf einem in zwei Teile gerissenen Pferd reiten, das Innere eines hungrigen Wolfs nach außen kehren und sich an seinem eigenen Schopf aus dem Morast ziehen. Die historische Figur Münchhausen hat es tatsächlich gegeben. Ein paar der Lügengeschichten hat er tatsächlich selbst erzählt, andere werden ihm nur zugeschrieben. Vier der Abenteuer dienten als Inspirationsquelle für diese Komposition. Die Musik ist jedoch keine wortwörtliche Umsetzung der Geschichten, sie erweckt vielmehreine bestimmte Atmosphäre oder ein Bild zum Leben, oft mit einem humoristischen Einschlag.Dies sind die vier Teile der Komposition:The Horse (Das Pferd): Während eines Schneesturms bindet der Baron sein Pferd an einen Pfahl und fällt in einen tiefen Schlaf. Als er wieder aufwacht, ist der Schnee geschmolzen und sein Pferd baumelt an einer Kirchturmspitze.Canonball (Kanonenkugel): Der Baron springt auf eine abgeschossene Kanonkugel auf, um eine im Krieg belagerte Stadt ausspionieren zu können. Auf halbem Wege kehrt er zurück, in dem er auf eine in die andere Richtung fliegende Kanonenkugel umsteigt. Dann lässt er sich ein zweites Mal in die Stadt schießen und öffnet von innen das Tor.Flight to the Moon (Flug zum Mond): Baron Münchhausen fliegt mit einem schwebenden Gefährt zum Mond, wo er auf allerlei seltsame Gestalten trifft. Journey through the Earth (Reise durch die Erde): Der Baron springt in den Vulkan Ätna und unternimmt eine abenteuerliche Reise quer durch das Innere der Erde. Cette oeuvre s’inspire des célèbres histoires du baron de Münchhausen. Dans ces récits extraordinaires, le baron se lance dans toutes sortes d’aventures fabuleuses. Toutefois, la musique ne reproduit pas littéralement les histoires mais exprime plutôt uneambiance ou une scène particulière, souvent avec une touche d’humour.Les aventures du baron de Munchausen, une oeuvre en quatre mouvements :The Horse (Le cheval): Au milieu d’une tempête de neige, le baron attache son cheval un poteau et tombe dans un profond sommeil. Lorsqu’il se réveille, la neige a fondu et le cheval est suspendu au clocher d’une église.Canonball (Le boulet de canon): Le baron saute sur un boulet de canon en plein vol pour espionner une ville assiégée. Cela fait, il revient son point de départ en sautant sur un autre boulet de canon allant dans l’autre direction. Il est ensuite propulsé nouveau dans la ville dont il ouvre les portes de l’intérieur.Flight to the Moon (Voyage vers la lune): Le baron de Munchausen part pour la lune dans un vaisseau spatial.
