English.Written by Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) in 1913, this cryptic tone poem premiered on March 27th of that year by the Philharmonic Society Orchestra in Helsinki, under the composer's baton. Following that performance, Sibelius revised the harp-led work in 1914, with the new version being first performed in Helsinki again on January 9th, 1916.
