Cette celebre chanson - qui a ete chantee aussi en francais par Les Compagnons de la Chanson sous le titre "Le bleu de l'ete" - est tiree du film Alamo (Oscar de la meilleure bande sonore), western americain realise par John Wayne en 1960. Le film s'inspire d'un episode de la Guerre d'Independance du Texas, le siege de Fort-Alamo (une poignee de 185 civils americains insoumis au Mexique, parmi lesquels les legendaires Davy Crockett et Jim Bowie, se sacrifie pour retenir les sept mille hommes des troupes regulieres mexicaines en attendant l'arrivee des troupes coloniales). Dimitri Tiomkin (1894-1979) a signe la musique de ce film. Compositeur et producteur ukrainien, il a ecrit d'innombrables musiques de films (dont Reglement de comptes a O.K. Corral, Rio Bravo, Les canons de Navarone, La chute de l'empire romain...). Apres une introduction au piano (avec reprise), le theme est expose dans un premier rythme calme en mi mineur (de la mesure 2 a la mesure 33). Les mesures 34 et 35 servent a la fois de modulation et de changement de tempo. Le theme est expose une seconde fois en fa mineur sur un tempo de bolero et une nuance plus soutenue que la premiere exposition. Les deux dernieres mesures sont elargies. Jacques PELOIS, ne en 1947, a consacre toute sa vie a la musique. Professeur d'education musicale, chef d'orchestre, pianiste, il affectionne tout particulierement la musique legere et la comedie musicale. Chef de choeur, il a ecrit des arrangements pour differentes formations musicales.
