He is seriously ill, feels that his end is near and that he lacks the strength to complete the opera. In a final meeting with his muse, they look back on their lives and their secret. Italian lyricist Raffaele Prestinenzi was inspired by two books about Puccini: ‘Giacomo Puccini il romanzo della vita’ (Giuseppe Adami) and ‘Giacomo Puccini ricordi e aneddoti’ (Amedeo Guidugli). With these books as a starting point, Prestinenzi wrote ‘Ma il mistero è chiuso in me’, a beautiful story in 12 scenes alternating with well-known and lesser-known arias and instrumental works selected and arranged by Matteo Firmi. ‘The Puccini Mystery’ is a music theatre piece for soprano (Puccini's muse), actor (Puccini) and wind ensemble.
