The Serrata, (farewell, closure) is a series of piano four hand cameo portraits of friends and students who have played duets with me over the years and who come and go like soft ripples in the sea. These little updated Czerny like studies asked the question, 'after Post Modernism what'? The preface gives an optional version of having the various friends come on stage one at a time, and play one portrait each.They pin the portrait to the board behind the piano.This includes substitutes for unavailable friends who can sit in for them, so th work becomes a procession, or it can be simply played at home. Photos are included with the score which can be printed out.
