Johann Sebastian Bach wrote these inventions, BWV 772 – 786, together with 15 three-part compositions that he called symphonia, as instructional pieces for his students. Though written for keyboard, the pieces translate beautifully to our world of strings. We have performed these arrangements in schools and concerts; they are a delight to play and to listen to.
