Dabei entwickelt bei Zimmermann das musikalische Material jedoch nie ein Eigenleben, sondern ist untrennbar mit dem Text(gehalt) verbunden. Dass der Komponistin neben ihrer Begeisterung für Palestrina, Orlando di Lasso und Bach besonders der Ungar György Ligeti wichtiges Vorbild ihrer weltlichen Stücke für gemischten Chor (SSAATTBB) a cappella ist, schlägt sich nicht nur klingend, sondern auch ganz öffentlich in ihrem dritten, mit „Hommage à György Ligeti untertitelten Gesang „Twilight nieder.
