Occata № 1 was written in Minsk at the request of professor Yuri Gildiuk, Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus, to compose a piano piece for a talented student for the participation in the national competition. In 1983 the piece was performed for the first time by Andrey Sikorsky, who was awarded the First price of the Republican Piano Competition. It was later recorded on the Belarusian Radio.
