Wind ensemble Brass Ensemble SKU: BF.BM1174-SET Composed by Girolamo Frescobaldi. Arranged by Gottfried Veit. Baton Music ensemble series. Full Score and set of parts. Baton Music #BM1174-SET. Published by Baton Music (BF.BM1174-SET). Girolamo Frescobaldi (1583-1643) was one of the most important organ and harpsichord players of his time. He gave concerts in numerous musical centers and was, among other things, the full-time organist at 'St. Peter's Basilica' in Rome. Of his compositions, the organ toccatas stand out, of which he wrote no less than three collections. The 'Toccata' presented here was for many years attributed to Girolamo Frescobaldi. It was not until the late 20th century that its authorship was doubted. In 1982, musicological experts determined that the Spanish violoncellist Gaspar Cassadó (1897-1966) composed this toccata originally for cello and piano. In order to give it greater importance, he simply attributed it to Girolamo Frescobaldi. Italian arranger Gottfried Veit transcribed this famous 'Toccata' for a large Brass Ensemble.
