The original version was for clarinet and piano, arranged by Carlo Della Giacoma around 1900. Other arias from the opera were added in as they seemed important and some of the keys were changed accordingly. It is for very advanced performers as it goes into the altissimo register up to an altissimo G. One could remove that one altissimo note without changing the overall effect.
