SATB choir, a cappella SKU: C5.5161 Composed by Timothy Flynn. Text: Missale Romanum. A good Marian motet -- not difficult to learn. Marian. Octavo. Published by CanticaNOVA Publications (C5.5161). The traditional Latin text for this motet is the Alleluia proper for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. The structure is in four parts: 1. Tota pulchra es, Maria. (You are totally pure, Mary.) / 2. Macula originalis non est in te. (The stain of original sin is not within you.) / 3. Tu gloria Jerusalem, tu laetitia Israel, tu advocata peccatorum, O Maria. (You are the glory of Jerusalem, you are the joy of Israel; you are the advocate for sinners, O Mary.) / 4. Tota pulchra es, Maria. (You are totally pure, Mary.). A consistent rhythm and some harmonic repetition unifies sections 1, 2 and 4, making the piece easy to learn. Section 3 is set to a flowing unison chant melody. This solid, reverent motet has excellent part writing, and will earn a treasured spot in your SATB choir's repertoire for years to come!
