It needs to be played with a sense of the humerous character of a brass band tuba solo piece. Although the suggested registration is for three manuals, the piece can easily be played on two manuals, e.g. with the solo played on a trumpet stop (or 8 4 22/3 2 diapasons if there is no trumpet stop) and the accompaniment played on 8 &4 diapasons (or 8 diapason & 4 gemshorn) on the second manual coupled to the pedals.
