This opera features the sopranoaria ‘Una voce poco fa’, which has been performed by many divasincluding Maria Callas, Teresa Berganza and Kathleen Battle. Thistranscription by Gerard Posch has been written for alto saxophoneand concert band, however the saxophone solo can also be sungby a soprano - as in the original aria Una Voce Poco Fa ist eine der großen Soloarien aus Der Barbier von Sevilla, Rossinis wohl berühmtester Oper, die er in nur 19 Tagen schrieb und der er doch bis heute den meisten Ruhm verdankt. In der Originalversion der Oper von der weiblichen Hauptfigur im Mezzosopran gesungen, verhilft Gerard Poschs Bearbeitung der Arie für Blasorchester dem Altsaxophon zu einem glanzvollen Soloauftritt.
