String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1032125 Composed by Erik Hines. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 44 pages. EHM #4640475. Published by EHM (A0.1032125). This original composition for string orchestra was written for the advanced level high school ensemble.  The concept behind the piece is a study of darkness into light, and the struggle of humanity to come out of the bondages of captivity into the solace of freedom.  This selection works from dissonance into consonant harmonies as it progresses.  There is a brief recognizable melody that brings the piece together for an uplifting finale.  The challenging 1st violin range and the use of double stops makes this a challenging, but accessible work for most high school ensembles. .
