The work is based on the Greek national anthem "Natane" to "21" (a song of Independence ) and "Horas Zacongoy," a Greek dance. The main theme in 7/8 meter is typical. The second theme is set as a Brass Chorale. A fast Coda section accelerates to the end in a reaffirmation of the true meaning of "Independence.".
