The composer's feelings and admiration for Mutter and the BSO come through in this expansively tuneful, warm music. The piece reflects Previn's early childhood memories of Germany, incorporating a German children's song in the third movement. Previn and Mutter recorded the concerto for a CD released by Deutsche-Grammophon in October, 2003. Duration: c. 38 minutes.
