The original Suite for string orchestra has been arranged for flute, oboe, clarinet in Bb, horn in F and Bassoon. The six movements, Basse Dance, Pavane, Tordion, Bransles, Pieds en l'air and Mattachins - Sword Dance, have their origins round about the 15th and 16th centuries and were all music for dancing. Players of good intermediate standard should enjoy the challenge of the contrasting styles of the dances.
