In addition to being an excellent piece to honor and remember a single male person (as per its original purpose), the text includes alternate wording that allows for its use in honor of a single female or a group of people. It is particularly effective for a memorial service, either private or public, a small or large occasion, or as a public tribute or means of honoring those who have sacrificed for others.
