Jeff Bjorck's original solo piano arrangement of this traditional Christmas carol uses the 16th century melody, “Greensleeves” and appears on his album/CD "The Wondrous Gift: A Pure Piano Christmas."  The minor tones evoke sadness, yet when paired with the lyrics by William Dix (1865), the combination inspires hope: “Nails, spear shall pierce him through, the cross be born for me, for you.” Indeed, this carol illustrates that without Good Friday and Easter, Christmas would lose its meaning.
